Aurora Borealis

Aurora Borealis stared Joshua Jackson, Donald Sutherland, Juliette Lewis, and Louise Fletcher. The story is about a man named Duncan who takes a job near his critically ill grandfather (Sutherland) and his grandmother (Fletcher). He meets Kate, his grandfather's nurse (Lewis) and develops a romantic relationship with her. He also grows closer to his grandfather and learns important life lessons about living and dying.

Aurora Borealis is a great story and I would definitely recommend the movie. It is rated R for language, so it would not be appropriate for children. I did cry, but I cry a lot anyway. The acting probably could have been better, but the story made up for it with me. Overall, good movie.

Off The Black

Off The Black is about the unlikely relationship that develops between an old umpire, Ray (Nick Nolte) and a high school pitcher, Dave (Trevor Morgan). After losing a big game, Dave, along with friends, trashes Ray's yard and is caught. The friends abandon him, but Dave promises Ray to clean up his yard and replace a broken window. As Dave begins to spend time cleaning up Ray's yard, the two begin to develop a friendship. Ray ends asks Dave to attend his 40 Year High School Reunion with him, pretending to be his son.

The movie develops the relationship between the two, each one helping the other out. Neither of the two come without baggage, but they grow into a father/son type of relationship.

I really liked the movie. Personally, I like movies that focus on relationships, which this one did very nicely. Ray played the role of Dave's father and took Dave fishing as well as taught him some life lessons. Dave played the role of Ray's absent son and Ray realized that he actually would have been a pretty good father. It is rated R and has language, so I can't recommend it for everyone, but overall, it's a good movie.

Welcome!

I decided to start this blog to post about movies that I've seen recently (or possibly in the past). My husband is basically crazy about movies, so I've gradually been developing my own taste in film.

Here's my plan:
Pick a movie (only 1 movie per post)
Give a brief introduction into what the movie is about (I will try to include a list of actors, but I'm really bad with names!)
My view - loved it, liked it, hated it
Who should see it (if anyone)

We'll see how this goes. I'm sure things will change! Feel free to leave me feedback about what you'd like to see on here!
Thanks!
